My Impression Of The South American Jungle From Reading Werner Herzog.
Some time ago I wanted to see The Werner Herzog Jungle Speech again.
I was having an anti-tech moment and decided to order a Herzog book, about his time filming a movie called "Fitzcarraldo" in The Jungle, from a local bookshop instead. The book is called: Conquest Of The Useless.
I just finished it. Took me some 3 months. I have to read every passage at least 5 times because my mind is always going in all directions.
The Jungle is brutal. It's non-stop misery, murder and decay. The people drink, lie and steal. Already in the early 80ties, The Jungle is full of animals that I think don't belong: rats, pigs, sheep, ducks, chickens, cats, dogs,...
Now The Jungle is dying. When everything is dead, there will be no more suffering. And no more beauty.
peace! ✌️
